Journal History

SPSL SB RAS issued this edition since 1967 as a collection of scientific papers, entitled “Scientific Libraries of Siberia and the Far East. Experience of Work”. From 1967 to 1982, 50 volumes were published containing articles on various aspects of libraries’ activities in the Siberian-Far Eastern region. Later on, thematic collections began to be published, and since 2011 – an ongoing edition entitled “Proceedings of SPSL SB RAS”. This is an interregional edition containing publications of specialists from the country libraries and universities of culture, which SPSL SB RAS actively cooperates with, conferences and forums’ materials that the library holds annually. 2-3 thematic issues of the publication, significant in volume (up to 40 printer’s sheets.), were published per year. In 2011 the edition was registered in the system of Russian Science Citation Index (www.elibrary.ru).

Accelerated growth of the volume of information and its dispersion, permanent transformations in the field of book culture and library and information activities required transformation in the format of the edition into the scientific journal with a frequency of publication 4 issues a year for the fastest, most complete and open publication of scientific and practical results.

Articles published in the journal are assigned the universal number Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Requirements for the design of articles submitted to the journal are as close as possible to the requirements for articles claimed by the international scientometric bases for scientific publications’.

Information on published articles is regularly transmitted to the system of the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) (www.elibrary.ru). 

"Proceedings of SPTSL SB RAS" is posted on the portal of scientific journals on library science, bibliography and book science (libs.elpub.ru), which is intended for interaction between the library community of Russia and other countries. It allows you to quickly find the information you need, lead discussions and share experiences, and it has been highly appreciated by librarians and experts in the professional community.

The appearance of the journals of the SPTSL SB RAS on the portal has become a symbol of recognition of the efforts that its employees make in studying library and information technologies, studying the evolution of book culture, and trends in the development of reading in the country and in the world.
