Abstract
The purpose of the article is to analyze data on advanced training of employees of municipal libraries in the Novosibirsk region. The article substantiates the relevance of continuous professional development for library specialists in connection with implementation of the professional standard «Specialist in library and information activity». Continuous professional development is considered as a complex of formal, informal and non-formal training. The article describes the possibilities of obtaining additional professional education on the basis of the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library, taking into account individual needs and goals of municipal libraries. The author has analyzed the activities of the educational center “Sibirika” and the most relevant additional professional programs. It is concluded that there is a contradiction between the high need of municipal libraries’ staff to master additional professional programs and their finance capabilities. The way out of this situation is seen in the creation of a bank of short-term courses and use of various forms of non-formal education to ensure the professional development of library specialists.
