Abstract

The purpose of the article is to set forth the fundamental conceptual regulations of the scientific and methodological support system for scientific libraries. The problems of scientific libraries that can be solved in the frames of scientific and methodological work are considered. The purpose and tasks facing scientific and methodological support and the requirements that it should meet are justified based on a system approach. The forms of activity and organizational structure that meet these requirements are proposed.
The expediency of using spatial approach in presenting the results of scientific and methodological activities implemented through a specialized portal is substantiated.
Though the leading scientific libraries, including the central research libraries of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the structure of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, are decentralized and each library has its own system of methodological support for the libraries of scientific institutions, there are all necessary and sufficient prerequisites for the formation of a multifactorial Concept of the system of scientific and methodological support for scientific libraries in the Russian Federation.

Abstract

The article considers changes in the information service technologies conditioned by digitalization in the Central Scientific Agricultural Library (CSAL), which has been creating information resources of its own generation since 1992. 24 document and lexicographic databases (DB) find their application for the information servicing. The main information product is the polythematic database “AGROS”, which provides comprehensive information about current receipts to the library collections. BD of own generation, posted on the website of CSAL, mainly in free access, have created conditions for the full-fledged remote user service. The library has converted almost all traditional services into the remote ones, developed convenient and simple services for its users to work independently with digital resources, which ensures their demand by specialists. The author shows positive dynamics of requests to the website of CSAL. Digital technologies have made it possible to perfect services; optimization of the Service Department, its merging with the Storage Department, transformation of service areas have increased the efficiency of work. As an information center, CSAL creates industry-wide linguistic tools, synopsizes and analytical reviews, makes them ready for the press.
The library determines as perspective such directions of servicing its users as the formation and development of related data, which allow creating qualitatively new analytical information, provision of access to integrated information through a single window, organization of the single industry knowledge space, origination and provision of open data. For this purpose, industry- wide linguistic tools for indexing and searching for information will be developed, databases of own generation will be created and constantly updated; monitoring of the Internet resources and creating navigators and manuals on the problems of the agro-industrial complex will be carried out.

Abstract

The paper considers the problem of forming digital resources, which reflect the scientific heritage of Russia. One of the most developed resources in this area is the digital library “Scientific Heritage of Russia” (DL SHR), which development began in 2007 as a part of the special program of the Russian Academy of Sciences, headed by the Joint Supercomputer Centre of RAS (JSC RAS). The library is built on the principle of linked data and reflects information about scientists, their publications (including digitized full texts) and archival materials related to scientists and museum objects. The content of the library was formed by joint efforts of many scientific organizations, including academic libraries. DL SHR is publicly available on the Internet since 2010. By 2020, DL SHR new generation technology, its internal and external software shells, search algorithms were completely redesigned and put into operation. The article describes the current state of NNR DL, which includes two WEB-oriented blocks - administrative and user. The administrative block, available to authorized users, provides input, editing, quality control of the created resources; the user block, presented in the public domain, provides wide opportunities for searching for resources using Boolean logic; it provides obvious visualization and advanced navigation through related resources. A number of examples of work with DL SHR are given. Along with DL SHR, the article considers the electronic libraries “Scientific Heritage of the Urals” and “Scientific Heritage of the Far East”, presented, respectively, on the websites of the Central Scientific Libraries of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These libraries are compared with DL SHR, and the conclusion is made about the need to coordinate work on creating digital resources that reflect the scientific heritage of Russia and its regions.

Abstract

The aim of the author is to present various ways to demonstrate the belonging of printed publications to the Valaam Monastery Library in the second half of the XIX–first quarter of the XX centuries. The study was conducted in 2021 in the regional library – the National Library of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk), which received in 1945 a batch of books from Valaam. When compared with the 1945’s inventory books of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia the list of transferred literature made it possible to reveal more than eighty copies of books and periodicals of the XVIII – the first quarter of the XX centuries with the undoubted signs of their former belonging to the Valaam Monastery. The article presents two types of owner’s stamps of the Valaam library. However, the author notes that cases of their use are rare; while the use of a sheet inscription to demonstrate the monastery’s ownership of the book is much more common (more than 60 volumes with similar inscriptions were found in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia).
Moreover, a number of copies have traces of belonging to the personal book collections of the monastery inhabitants. The article provides examples of various marks of belonging, donation and other inscriptions that indicate the ownership of books by such famous persons as, for example, Abbot Damaskin (Kononov), Archbishop of Karelia and Finland Pavel (Olmari), monastery librarian Hieroschemonach Antipas (Polovinkin), etc. As a practical result of the study, the information about the ownership of all identified copies of the Valaam Monastery Library (before 1945) was included in the electronic catalog of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. It allows, if necessary, to form any information resource from these electronic bibliographic records: from a simple list of literature to a virtual collection representing a part of the stock of the Valaam Monastery Library, preserved in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.

Abstract

The Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books of the Research Library of Tomsk State University stores more than 30 archival collections related to public figures, scientists, writers, as well as certain parts of the archives of institutions that existed in Tomsk. The time and circumstances of their arrival are different. Personal collections predominate, mostly thematically, anyway connected with Siberia. For example, the personal archives of G. N. Potanin and N. M. Yadrintsev, N. I. Naumov, P. I. Makushin are stored in the library of Tomsk State University. To date, 1/3 of them have inventories, work with the rest of the collections continues.
The problem of availability of archival collections in libraries is frequent in specialized scientific literature. It is noted that the institutions of memory – libraries, archives and museums – can often have a variety of types of documents, which sets the task of ensuring safety of complex and diverse collections, choosing accounting systems and combining them, developing an acquisition policy, and establishing interaction with each other for working with scattered collections. The purpose of this paper is to present the current state of archive collections stored in the Research Library of TSU, their structure, the results of the work done and the main problems to be solved. Such collections are of great value for scientific research and educational, exhibition work. Meanwhile, not all archival collections have been systematized and described, since the vast stock of the department poses a number of other important tasks for the stuff.
It is noted that the task of cataloging all the collections stored in the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books can be solved by staffing this area of work; developing an acquisition policy and instructions for processing the Library archival stocks; involving students and volunteers to the analysis and description of documents; and broadening inclusion of these collections in scientific research.
