Abstract

The purpose of the article is to consider the book by J. P. Eberhard (Johann Peter Eberhard, 1727– 1779) “Beiträge zur Mathesi Applicata...” (1757) in the context of the reconstruction of the composition of the foreign part of the book collection of Kolyvan Voznesensk mining plants. The edition is a collection of articles on applied mathematics, devoted to the issues of mechanics, optics and gnomonics and intended, according to Eberhard,

“for students attending his lectures, for other teachers to prepare and conduct classes, and for those who want to help themselves in the study of applied mathematics”. The article defines the affiliation of the book to the library collections of the Kolyvan Voznesensk mining plants on the basis of service marks, reflecting the earliest stages of the use of the copy as a part of the Altai state libraries collections, attention is paid to thepersonality of the German author, whose works undoubtedly were a part of the scientific and technical thought of Europe in the second half of the XVIII century, the content of the articles composing the book and their compliance with the tasks of the Altai mining industry are revealed. The work “Beiträge zur Mathesi Applicata...” is considered in the context of other works, the continuation of which, according to the author's definition, it is and which, according to our assessment, are also presented in the book collection of the Kolyvan-Voskresensk mining plants. The results of the study expand the idea of the scale of J. P. Eberhard's personality and the relevance of his work for professional mining education and ensuring the production process in the Altai Mining District in the XVIII century, also add to the history of creation of the first in Siberia scientific technical library collection.

The purpose of the article is to form an idea of publishing educational and educational-methodical literature on disciplines taught in various educational institutions of Siberia at the end of the 18th– 19th centuries. Statistical information on publishing literature by year in the cities of the West Siberian and East Siberian educational districts is provided, the variety of topics of published works, the structure and content of a number of publications based on data from the volume 1 of the “Unified Catalog of Siberian and Far Eastern Books”. 1790–1917." (Novosibirsk, 2004) demonstrated. This article is the first attempt to present generalized data on statistics and topics of educational and educational-methodical publications issued inprinting houses of Siberia and the Far East at the end of the 18th–19th centuries. Such literature mostly prevailed in publishing in the West Siberian educational district, than in the East Siberian one. The bulk of publications were programs, reports of educational institutions and societies, charters, instructions, protocols, rules, regulations, works on the history of educational institutions, other works.

The leaders in publishing such literature were Tomsk, Irkutsk, Tobolsk, with the largest number of printing houses involved.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to provide an overview of the modern practice of publishing military ego-documents (memoirs, diaries, correspondence). Over the past 30 years of post-Soviet history, this process, according to the observations of the author of the article, has gone through two stages. The first one, chronologically related to the period of the 1990s, manifested itself in domination of repeated re-publication in large quantities of printed materials in high demand – memoirs and diaries of the leaders of the White movement, famous “white” generals and other emigrant publications of 1920–1930.
The second (currently ongoing) stage included the republication of the Soviet military memoir heritage; revival of the traditions of publishing memoirs and diaries of military leaders (and then ordinary participants in wars) of pre-revolutionary Russia; scientific academic publications of little-known memoir sources extracted from archives; memoirs and diaries of Soviet/Russian participants in local wars in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Africa and other foreign countries. The most characteristic feature of modern book publishing on military topics is the appearance of a large number of memoir books, mostly self-published by participants in the Great Patriotic War, in ranks from a private soldier to a junior officer.

Abstract

The material laid down in the basis of the article is drawn on various bibliographic sources and library collections (Russian State Library, Russian National Library, Research Library of Tomsk State University). The object of the article is for the first time to present and systematize the main body of literary and fiction texts of the 1920s–1940s in the context of publishing activity of literary groups and associations of the Russian Far Eastern First-Wave émigré. The poetic activity of this period initially realized itself through groups, following the Silver Age traditions, and creative persons brought together, as fate willed it, in the situation of “Russian scattering.” In this aspect, the literary group is considered as a sociocultural form due to the methodology of Yu. N. Tynyanov, B. M. Eikhenbaum and A. I. Reitblat. Such tendencies were most apparent in the second period of the literary process formation among the Russian Far Eastern émigré in Harbin, where “Young Churaevka” literary association (1926–1935) had a very well-thoughtout program and concept. In addition to regular general gatherings and discussions among like-minded people, the typology of the literary group includes public speaking and promotion of joint undertakings in the press. As a rule, the activity of any literary group or association is directly connected with some publishing body, so the defining genre of such creativity is a literary collection – the most flexible type of literary publication with all kinds and genres of fiction. All this outlines the perspective for systematization of collections of that type and revealing their common typology with the determining role of socio-cultural environment.

Abstract

The study of personal libraries (book collections) is timely due to the implementation of the state policy to expose library collections and study regional book (documentary) heritage. One can note an increasing interest of book historians, specialists in the field of library and book study activities in private book collections of famous people, outstanding cultural and scientific figures, as well as personal libraries of scientists.

A holistic look at the book collections of scientists through the prism of the scientist’s book environment complements and enriches the idea of the researcher’s creative laboratory, and provides additional material on the history of science and book culture. The scientist’s personal library acquires a memorial status and contributes to preservation of his memory.

The article is dedicated to the memory of Bogdan Vyacheslavovich Voitsekhovsky, a famous scientist, who made a great contribution into the national science and economy, the main years of whose life were associated with the Siberian Branch (SB) of the USSR Academy of Sciences – SB RAS and Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The purpose

of this article is to characterize the personal library of Academician B. V. Voitsekhovsky stored in the Central Scientific Library of UrB RAS. The work reveals the composition of the library, characterizes the owner’s records and inscripts; determines the status of the researcher’s book collection as a personal (memorial) library, reflecting the main directions of the scholar’s scientific and inventive activities. This will permit to add to the data on the history of Russian science, with the aim of popularization of historical and cultural heritage.

Abstract

Bibliography is one of the main areas in the range of scientific specialties of the Higher Attestation Commission in section 5.10 “Art History and Cultural Studies”, specialty 5.4.10 “Library Science, Bibliography and Bibliology”. The article is devoted to the problem of reflecting bibliographic subjects in the scientific activities of the central libraries of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the article is to consider the problems of creating bibliographic resources, conducting applied scientific research on bibliographic topics and how trends in the development of bibliographic activities of libraries are presented in the publications of specialists. The author concludes that not only conducting bibliographic research itself, but also creating bibliographic resources of various types and genres is scientific work, and libraries rightfully account for their scientific activities by their creation.

By carrying out activities to create bibliographic resources, libraries solve historical and cultural problems: preserving the cultural, historical and scientific heritage of the peoples of Russia through bibliography.

Research activities to study systems for the formation of bibliographic resources in libraries of different types and for bibliographic services to different categories of users are actually bibliographic studies, they are aimed at improving bibliographic activities themselves. By conducting such research, bibliographers determine the prospects for the development of their activities.

Abstract

The object of the article is to present the results of research aimed at identifying data on memorial information resources about Siberians – the participants of the Great Patriotic War and serving on the home front. Basing on studying Websites containing full texts of documents of personal origin (ego documents), that reflect the fates of Siberians during the Great Patriotic War, the activities of Siberian organizations (archives, museums, etc.) on the study of ego documents and their introduction into scientific and public circulation are presented,
The paper provides a brief overview of publications on the study of various aspects of memorial practices in the electronic environment and shows the interpretation of the concept of “ego documents” by different authors.
In the course of work there were examined 63 sites containing memorial information resources: the websites of the Ministry of Defense, State museums and archives of Siberia and the Far East, as well as other organizations. 19 sites containing ego documents were identified, their search capabilities studied, the characteristics of ego documents given according to several parameters (types, quantity, content, etc.).
The revealed websites containing significant arrays of ego documents are: “Pis’ma Pobedy” (“Letters of the Victory”), “Prozhito” (“It’s lived through”), “Ya pomnyu” (“I remember”), etc. There are also sites that contain memories of the front-line soldiers and home front workers’ relatives and friends, sharing stories about them: “Pamyat’ naroda” (“Memory of the People”) and “Bessmertnyi polk” (“Immortal Regiment”). On some sites ego documents are presented in the form of collections (the Museum of History and Ethnography of the KhMAO-Yugra, the State Archive of Kuzbass, etc.).
There is a number of shortcomings hampering the study of ego documents on some sites (lack of printed deciphering of scan copies of letters, advanced search function, etc.). The authors conclude that a number of All-Russian and regional Internet resources contain significant volumes of ego documents reflecting the events of the Great Patriotic War, which provide good opportunities for the research work of historians and local history scientists.

Abstract

Open access journals are widespread, including the field of library science. The purpose of the article is, basing on the results of the analysis of foreign journals on library science topics, to prepare a list of journals for potential publishing Russian scientists’ articles in them.
The selection of journals was carried out on the platforms Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Dimensions, Lens.org and Scimago Journal & Country Rank. Non-thematic journals were eliminated from the initial sample of journals; the remained ones were analyzed according to the following parameters: reflection of journal data on major world open access resources, indexing in international databases (Web of Science and Scopus), quartile (Q1  и Q2 from Scimago Journal & Country Rank), as well as open access models, price policy and availability of an open license.
In addition, the studied journals were checked for presence/absence in the “black” lists of journals. Based on these data, the general “portrait” of library open access journals was compiled and the list of recommended foreign open access journals for publishing the Russian scientists’ results of research was marked out.
The study embraced 220 open access journals.
The results indicated the Directory of Open Access Journals (57, 7 %) as the main platform for journal selection. About 64 % of journals were free of charge for authors with publishers (universities or associations) covering the costs of publishing articles themselves. “Diamond” (about 63.5% of journals) and “Green” (about 43, 5 % of journals) were identified as the dominant open access models, indexed in Web of Science and Scopus – about 60 % of open access journals.
The study also revealed the problem of correct reflection of open access journals on the platforms (discrepancy of topic, type of the document, etc.). The list of 12 highly rated journals that library scientists could use when searching for information and publishing their research results in the open information space was compiled, and analyzed for publications of Russian authors in them over the past 5 years (2018–2023).

Abstract

The scientific library historically serves the purposes of education, assists scientific research and integration of information into the body of knowledge. Without the qualitative maintenance of these auxiliary processes, the development of science is impossible. The library retains the status of a keeper of verified and systematized knowledge. In modern conditions, the process of searching and integrating information is simple and accessible. However, freedom and simplicity of obtaining facts and using various tools to compile integral language constructions entails a number of negative effects, including illegal borrowing, falsification and irresponsible use of text generation systems for scientific publications. The purpose of the article is to analyze the problems of citation culture changes caused, among other things, by the emergence of new technologies for artificial text generation.  The main provisions of the article are based on the observation and experience of examining scientific manuscripts in order to detect illegal borrowings accumulated by a group of specialists in the Russian State Library over the past decade. This activity is not limited solely by the instrumental detection of plagiarism, but it is also focused on comparison of various citation practices in scientific papers. The problems of citation analysis, the influence of citation culture on the process of research verification are considered. Special attention is paid to the tools for artificial text generation that are actively included in the practice of writing academic texts.
