BOOK HERITAGE AND BOOK CULTURE
The article examines the mining officials’ business correspondence in the Kolyvan-Voskresensk (Altai) mining district as a source of studying the book culture of the mid-XIX century. The details of acquisition and use of collections of the Barnaul Public Library in 1830-1850 are revealed basing on documents stored in the State Archive of the Altai Region.
The purpose of the article is to elicit and analyze the information potential of the official documentation of functionaries of the Altai Mining District for studying the history of the book culture of Siberia. Special attention is paid to the accompanying documentation for the books received by the Kolyvan-Voskresensk plants. These documents allow us to identify the main thematic lines in the purchased literature, to characterize the sources of replenishment and options for using the collections of the Barnaul Public Library.
The work of the library was primarily subordinated to the needs and goals of the mining industry of the Altai. In 1830–1850 it continued to participate in teaching and training of mining specialists, which influenced the specifics of collections building. Books could be purchased not only on the initiative of the Staff of the Corps of Mining Engineers, but also at the requests of employees of the Altai Mining District. In addition to specialized literature, the mining plants received works published by specialists who worked here for many years.
The results of archival documents analysis clearly demonstrate that the incoming books were shared due to mining chief judgment between the Barnaul Public Library, the educational department, mining offices and other institutions in the structure of the Altai Mining District. Some archival documents reflect the titles, number and, in some cases, the cost of received books.
The research shows that the office documents of the Altai Mining District can be used for the reconstruction of the composition of the book collection of the Kolyvan-Voskresensk plants and attribution of separate books from this collection.

The Tuvan People's Republic, as a sovereign state with a socialist orientation, did not exist for long: from 1921 to 1944. During the period of 23 years, just over 500 books, brochures, newspapers and magazines in Mongolian, Tuvan and Russian languages came out of print. They were published by various departments, the Press Committee, and the Tuvan United State Publishing House as well. To date over 150 works have survived, most of which – in the only copy. The main owners of these book monuments became the National Library named after A. S. Pushkin, the National Museum named after Aldan-Maadyr, the National Archive and the Tuvan Institute of Humanities, Applied and Socio-Economic Research. For example, in the specialized sector of the National Library there are more than 60 printed works published in the Tuvan People's Republic.
The object of the research is the “Collection of laws and basic regulations of the Government of the Tuvan People's Republic” that is stored in the archive of the Tuvan Institute of Humanities, Applied and Socio-Economic Research. The purpose of the article is to consider the specifics of the period of preparation and release of the collection, its structure and content. The results of the study will expand the understanding of the book culture of the Tuvan People’s Republic and, in general, the cultural heritage of the republic in modern conditions.

The awareness of readers of public libraries about scientific achievements is analyzed and the demand for popular science journals available in the collections of the State Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPSTL SB RAS) is studied.
The authors conclude that: 1) popular science journals for library users are not the main source of knowledge about the development of science and technology, but there is a steady demand for them, and there is also a tendency to expand the names of the requested journals, accompanied by a simultaneous increase in their issuance; 2) requests for popular science journals, with a few exceptions, do not depend on gender indicators; 3) people over the age of 60 constitute the bulk of readers of popular science periodicals; 4) more often, popular science journals from the SPSTL SB RAS collections are requested by specialists with higher education. It is noted that the level of education of library users becomes one of the main factors determining the demand for popular science journals.

The author analyzed conceptual works on the construction of libraries that define historical stages in the design and construction of library buildings in the USSR and modern Russia. The tradition of considering issues of organizing library buildings in the structure of library science developed at the beginning of the 20th century. The analysis of the study of library science publications revealed absence of complex consideration of the problem of organizing library buildings.
Historically, many central libraries occupy buildings dated the 18th–19th centuries, and one of the actual tasks of librarianship is to preserve buildings that present cultural value, to create conditions for the organic use of their space, taking into account new information technologies, the development of the library as a modern multifunctional cultural and information social institution. The library architectural heritage of central libraries of the country constituent entities needs reconstruction and restoration in order to preserve the information potential that their collections contain.
The Sector for the Organization of Librarianship of the Scientific and Methodological Department of the Russian National Library carried out the analysis of the database of business cards of central universal libraries of Russia to identify the quantitative characteristics of the buildings of central libraries of the constituent entities of RF, to get information on their current state and to develop further recommendations for improving the library space.
INFORMATION AND LIBRARY SYSTEMS, RESOURCES AND TECHNOLOGIES
The article examines the problem of spreading fake news in the sphere of scientific information. Social networks, blogs, podcasts and many other Internet channels overload the information field and contribute to the spread of false information. This situation negatively affects the process of interaction between science and society. In this regard, the library can serve as a source of reliable scientific information. The purpose of the article is to present the results of the analyses of capabilities of libraries as a source of reliable scientific information in the struggle with fake news.
The context of the modern information space makes its own demands to the broadcast of any message. Erroneous or false information, that the broadcast message contains, could be duplicated in various sources. Attention to the source of information and its sender should be very high. In this regard, it is necessary to take a more responsible approach to choosing the source of information.
The object of the article is to examine based on foreign publications the problem of fake news and the place of the library as the source of reliable information. The LENS.ORG platform was the main source used. Foreign authors confirm the importance of the work of libraries as a significant social institution oriented towards the development of the society of knowledge.
The analysis of the document flow on the theme has made it possible to define the place of the library in solving the problem of spreading false scientific information. The conclusion has been made, that libraries’ activities, besides preserving and spreading information, should be supplemented with the struggle with false information.
Information literacy activities and work to identify unreliable information in the field of science are becoming particularly relevant.
With the development of digitalization, new services are emerging that allow attracting users to libraries, personalizing services and automating processes of their comfortable provision, etc. In the context of transformation, libraries have to adapt to new realities, but at the same time, new opportunities appear every day to improve their work in the digital space. Many libraries today lack any clear strategy for working in the virtual space and do not investigate feedback from consumers.
In the era of digitalization, it is necessary to implement software and service tools that allow positioning library as a modern comfortable space to meet the society’ information needs. Placing on the library website an interactive Taplink system, designed taking into account real capabilities of libraries, specialists, and user needs and aimed at comfortable access to library resources and consumer activation, may be one of such breakthrough tools.
The object of the article is to present the results of the study of the new digital phenomenon – Taplink, as well as of the elaboration and implementation of the pilot project in the Republican Youth Library of Tatarstan in order to assess the effectiveness of the introduction of this digital platform into the library's activities, analyze the library interaction with consumers on this platform, study the statistics of visits and functioning of the interactive system.
The proposed project is unique, because it has no analogues in most libraries of the Russian Federation, and the Taplink theme itself is presented only in publications of the business community and is not covered in scientific publications of the library industry. The results of the study can provide significant assistance in the development of a comfortable digital library space.
